What I like is how I can chose my own topic. I didn't have this opportunity with my previous research papers. On one of my previous research papers I had to watch four movies and read four books, It was a pain in the neck though interesting. It was fun watching the movies from the early 90's about black popular culture, one of the book I had to read was Mark Anthony Neal's
Soul Babies, black popular culture and the post-soul aesthetic. I learnt about actresses like Palm Grier and how she made her way to the top of the movie industry, from getting small rolls to front cover magazines. It also covered the music industry and Hip-Hop. It was a deep and long research paper of Ten pages.
I also watched movies like super fly, the aim of the research paper was to show us how movie directors and producers exploited the African American Popular culture in the blaxploitation era for profits. Most movies that came out in that era were about Pimps, hustlers and drugs in the poor African American neighborhoods.
I wrote another paper for my Health and Weight Training class, in this research paper we were to chose any topic from a health article and discuss the pros and cons of the article. Also explain how it affects the University and my fellow class mates. I chose a health topic on the use of marijuana. On this article, I was worried about what the professor would think, but when I got my paper back, I scored a hundred percent with a very good remark. I think i scored that high because I was allowed to pick my own topic.
